The Eucharist is life for people and for human society, just as the sun is for our bodies and for the whole earth. Without the sun, the earth is sterile.
The daytime star obeys and is subservient to the highest Sun, the divine Word, Jesus Christ, who illuminates all those who come into the world. Through the Eucharist, sacrament of life, he acts within them, and in this way informs families and nations.
The Christian community is a family and what binds its members together is the Eucharist.
Eucharistic communion reveals to us, through impression more than reasoning, everything about our Lord. It is the place where we have our most intimate relationships with him, relationships that produce true knowledge of who he is. It is where Jesus manifests himself in the most complete way.
