The development of a priestly Christology (Heb) and the outline of a priestly Ecclesiology (1Pt)...revealed a profound change in the way worship and priesthood were understood. Instead of putting the ritual expression first, attention turned first of all to more existential outcomes.
Christ’s priesthood was not made present in a ceremony, but in an event, the offering of his own life.
The priesthood of the Church does not consist in celebrating ceremonies, but in transforming real existence by opening it to the action of the Holy Spirit and the inspirations of divine charity. From this, specifically Christian, point of view ordained ministers are at the service of the priesthood of all and not vice versa.
