Being one means building a family among us, the kind of family whose model in this world is Nazareth, a common life of virgins, of a spiritual but also the most human kind imaginable, because it has as its one bond that human – divine charity that satisfies and exceeds the demands of any human affection… And if we are a family the problem of ageing priests is also resolved, because it is absurd and contrary to Jesus’ commands to allow a priest who is old or ill, to be abandoned to his loneliness and the anonymity of an old people’s home… This family is beautiful and attractive, because in it the harmony of oneness shines out; it is an open house for fellow priests and seminarians, a centre of communion, because where Jesus lives you do not feel the generation gap. Jesus is the ever modern, up to date person: he is the Logos of God, the theologian, he is Wisdom continually generated on the earth by those who relive Mary.
